HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY
We will be getting baby chickens on Thursday, so that means our fourth will be spent working, setting up the houses for them. So, Teddy decided he would celebrate early with a picnic; no fireworks allowed in our area this year because the danger of fire is so high. He was hoping his friends from the sewing room would join him to eat the goodies in his picnic basket, while sitting on this month's little quilt.
He really wanted to go swimming, but I told him the water in the creek is almost dried up and therefore it might not be healthy to be in it.
The picnic part wasn't too pleasant in the hot air; a game of pick-up sticks inside was much more fun. Have you ever played pick-up sticks? It takes a lot of concentration and a steady hand.
We turned the quilt over to show the pretty lining.
We're hoping you have a happy day, swimming, eating, visiting with friends, but please be careful with the fireworks!

sounds like your 4th will be busy - I'm not sure what we are doing - just the two of us this year and I don't feel like driving to NW Ark to do any family thing - would be too hot!
ReplyDeleteLove Teddy's picnic quilt.

I love that little quilt! And Teddy looks so happy, even if it is hot!
ReplyDeleteSuch a vibrant and pretty little quilt! Baby chickens..........they do take a lot of work especially if you are getting a lot of them. Take time to have a little fun on the 4th!
ReplyDeleteI love all your quilts. Hopefully no country neighbors have fireworks. Still no rain. A couple of degrees cooler.
ReplyDeleteTake care and do not work to hard :)
That is a great quilt, perfect for the 4th...Is that 'pick-up stix' I see? I have spent hours playing with those things. I loved then and I loved to play Jacks!
ReplyDeleteOh Charlotte, it is absolutely perfect. I love it - and Teddy is pretty perfect too.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a happy 4th in spite of the work. It is our younger son's birthday - so we'll be celebrating with him. He's our Yankee Doodle Boy.
What a fun little quilt...perfect for the holiday! Zooming in to take a closer look, I must admire your perfect little stitches. Hope you have a little fun on the fourth!
ReplyDeleteLove the fun quilt...and Teddy! There were fireworks in our neighborhood last night. Fireworks are not banned here; just come with warnings to be very careful. I hope all goes well with the chicken prep!
ReplyDeleteI stopped by after church, but no one answered the door - I guess there was a party I wasn't invited to - a chicken house party! Maybe I'll try again tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteHappy Late 4th of July!
ReplyDeleteI love your Teddy, quilt and picnic fun photos. I love the backing too.
We play pick-up sticks with our grandson... we never win. lol
Such a pretty little quilt, too bad the weather was too hot for the teddy bear picnic.
ReplyDeleteFireworks have been going off all week here, so much noise and a few houses here and there catch on fire.
I love your quilts and Teddy. I have been concerned about you and your farm. I know how the heat is stressing all. Hope you were far away from the Hudson Springs fire today (6th). All take care...I know sometimes the menfolk stay out in it longer than they should.
ReplyDeleteI love the little quilt and Teddy sitting on it..Our fourth was busy too..Canning and more canning..Hope you have a restful weekend, Susie
ReplyDeleteHow cute! We also had our fireworks cancelled. That didn't seem to stop some in our neighborhood from lighting them illegally, made me so nervous as we back to a large "green" (now brown) space. Finally getting some rain tonight, my husband asked "What are those flashes?" I thought he was kidding... but it has been so long.
ReplyDeleteSounds like your fourth was busy with new chickens. I love your quilt. It's so colorful and beautiful. I also like the Teddy bear, a lot. We didn't have fireworks this year, but we did have a parade on the townsquare that was awesome. I love your quilts. You are a very talented person.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt, Charlotte - so appropriate for July!
