Dixie, from MAIDA Today, invited us to enter a doll quilt we had made, to share with readers. This is my entry, Tumbling Blocks; hand pieced blocks, appliqued onto the background, and hand quilted. It measures 17" x 20", a good size to cover a doll.
I'm showing this one just for you: Scrappy Spools, hand pieced and hand quilted.
I like to make my doll quilts by traditional patterns if possible; patterns that one might find on a big bed.
Tumbling blocks is so neat. About all I've ever managed is a 9 patch baby quilt for my son...40 years ago but he still has it. I am sure I must know you, especially if you've always lived in the area.
Hi, Charlotte - thanks so much for entering your quilt. :-) I like your apple core quilt - my grandmother made one for me when I graduated from high school. I'd love to make a small one some day.
What beautiful work you do on your little quilts!!! These are two of my favorites. The blocks are so 3-D... seems I could reach out and play with them.
These are beautiful, you put so much heart into them. Thank you for letting me know what your little glass piece is! How neat is that! As to my seedhead, I hope it reseeds, I'd like to have more of those plants!
Those are beautiful! I've always wanted to make an applecore quilt but haven't tried it yet. Everyone says they are easy but to me they look very time consuming. Kristie
This reminds me of my mother. I have so many of her quilts. I look at them now that she has been gone for 12 years and see the many hours she put in them. They are precious to me... I have no needle skills :) Just love to dig in the dirt and garden - but then have sketched the rooms and built a few homes.
These are delightful Charlotte. What a magnificent quilter you are! I can't decide which one I like best, but that Tumbling Blocks Quilt is just amazing.
cute doll quilts - it is nice to see them in miniature.
