Maybe you can help me

decide what to do with this quilted piece:

Are you familiar with whole cloth quilting?

Whole cloth quilts are created from one single piece of fabric; unlike patchwork, a whole cloth quilt is not pieced at all.  The design across the surface is made entirely from quilting stitches.

They were traditionally made by women who had money enough to purchase wide pieces of fabric.

From Day Style Designs, "This really is an amazing quilting style that deserves a try at least once in your quilting journey."

O.k.  Now I don't know what to do with it since it is only about a fourth of a quilt top.  It makes me think of a recipe: I've tried it; don't care for it; won't do it again.

But, it was too much work to throw out; any suggestions as to a use for it?

  1. I think it is very pretty Charlotte~ how about using it as a table topper? If nothing else, I would throw it over the back of my couch so everyone could see all my hard work! :)

  2. Maybe you could use it as a pillow cover for a bed pillow. I guess it would be covered up though if you did that. I think Paula's table topper idea is good too!

  5. I figure whatever you decide to do with it will be perfect for it. It's a beautiful work of art regardless of your choice. Well done. :)

Is it large enough to use as a middle square of a quilt? The outer blocks could be pieced blocks made to compliment the designs in the white area, maybe like blocks made with the basket pattern or leaf pattern.

  6. This is absolutely beautiful.
I think I would use it as a table topper or just in the center of my bed. Display it somewhere but do not let it get soiled. I would place it in the middle of my bed..

  10. That is so beautiful! You have been told many wonderful things to do with it, and those ideas were exactly what I was thinking. Show it off somewhere whether it be on a wall or chair or table.
