My Girls

I have three wonderful daughters, ages 50, 49, and 46.  These little crewel embroidered pictures say so much about them when they were small:

The oldest wanted to cook and I'm ashamed to admit it now, but I didn't encourage it at the time.

The middle daughter liked to sew.  Whenever they were playing with their dolls, she would rather make clothes for the dolls than mother them.

The baby girl -- well, what can I say?  She liked to play, but she pestered her sisters to death at times.  So we always told her she needed to pray.

The pictures were given to me as a kit, many, many years ago and have hung on the wall, reminding me of their different personalities and the fun they had growing up together.

  15. Thanks for leaving a comment on my blog :-). I love sewing for dolls! I resemble your middle daughter!! I never really played with my dolls, but they were very well dressed :-). Sewing for the American Girl dolls is sooo much fun! I have two granddaughters that have one and a daughter and I have two myself (one I found at a garage sale for a quarter!! So, keep looking :-).

  16. Oh, I stitched that first picture! Years ago, before my son was born, and when he was little, I did lots of needlework.
    Thanks for the memory!

  18. Hi, just wanted to drop back by after reading your comment on my blog. You mention that you would like to use your old transfers but they are so fragile.........do you have a scanner? You could scan those images off and thus preserve them and be able to use them, by using a window or a light box to trace the designs on to your pillowcases. I hope this might help and I look forward to seeing you stitching some pretty pillowcases! blessings, Kathleen
