In the past week I've started feeling a bit like Jonah (from the Bible, Jonah, chapter one) when he said, "Take me up, and cast me forth into the sea; so shall the sea be calm unto you: for I know that for my sake this great tempest is upon you." Now of course I didn't really think I was the cause of this drought; at least I hope not!
The hills are dotted with trees whose leaves are turning fall colors.
Many of the oaks have lost most of their leaves, making the ground look more like October than July. The little pond almost dried up, leaving green, nasty water, so we had to move the heifers to another pasture.
So this morning I watch as clouds build up, hoping by this afternoon there will be more rain, if not for us then for our neighboring communities, because we're all in this together, and it's not easy to rejoice when others are suffering.

I was doing tomatoes when it started raining, and I just had to stop to go outside and look at it!

Oh my gosh I can imagine how difficult it must be. Thankful to have rain but not enough to share.

ReplyDeleteHi Charlotte, glad to hear about your rain. We've had rain for the past several days and I'm so thankful for it. Last year we suffered a severe drought, thousands of trees in Texas were lost. Praying you get enough rain to do some good !!

I know how depressing it can be and I didn't have the worry of livestock to care for.
Glad you've had some rain, even a little can lift the spirits and give you hope....

Hey, we got about that bit amount last week and now this week we're due to get hopefully 5 inches. It's been raining off and on since yesterday.
I'm sending you cool thoughts and prayers for soaking rain to quench the land and bring back life once again.

Oh~ I'm so glad you sot some rain, Charlotte! We've had some too... not much but any little bit helps right now. Our leaves were falling off too and the pasture was drying up quick... I hope now it can come back a little so the sheep will have something to pick.
ReplyDeleteGlad you finally got rain..we've had it all week and it's been pouring just about every evening..Yesterday it poured for about an hour..Almost 2 inches and with our little creek at the back of the house it was scary..It came out of it's banks for a little while before it receded.. Scared me half to death...Hope you don't get to much of a good thing...Susie
ReplyDeleteGlad you got a little bit of moisture. We got a small bit last week, but not enough. I'm out there with the hose watering the plants and shrubs and trees every day.
