Another Rainy Day

Well, just as promised, yesterday was another rainy day, and even this morning we have had showers. I took advantage of staying indoors and worked on the re-do of my white ribbon quilt. It's coming along and looks better than I ever thought it would. Late in the afternoon we went to haul hay in to feed the heifers and when I got back the sky was darkening but I quickly took a walk; those clouds with lightning can move pre-tty fast! By around 7:00 p.m. a more serious storm was coming our way and we watched as the wall cloud passed over with no funnels sited.

As the clouds passed on to the east, the sun peaked through the rain, just as it was setting.

Poor heifers, their good hay got wet again!

No rainbow this time; I guess it was too dark.

  1. while you were watching that wall cloud your daughter and granddaughter rain into my house to wait out that storm before they went home - about 10 minutes after they left our house we had the sirens going off again here and back to the storm shelter we went had hail that time and very, very heavy rain. I'm glad they had that head start and got home without too much trouble!!
I will be so glad for this to clear out today.

  2. I'm glad you didn't spot any funnel clouds. I've never seen one in person, but can imagine they'd be terrifying.
Our forecast is for possible severe storms tomorrow.

  3. We're swimming here in Missouri too.
The weather has been wild and wicked.
    Stay safe.

  4. We saw that sunset as we were coming home, and I thought it was the weirdest thing I had seen - eerie, almost. We had been in heavy rain from just before the county line, and then as we came into town, there was that yellow glow around the sun through the rain. It was just strange!

I had gone to pick Lily up from school and had some errands to run before coming home, so about the time we were through with the errands, I could tell a storm was on its way. I decided to hunker down, so we went to a Subway restaurant and sat as far away from the windows and as close to the bathrooms as we could. So the sky got VERY, VERY dark, and the wind was VERY, VERY strong, but they just kept making sandwiches!
