A few years ago I made a quilt for each of my grandchildren; I believe they were all made the same year so I must have made better use of my time than I do now. This first one was for my older grandson. It is in the rail fence pattern and I appliqued baseballs here and there over the top. While quilting it I came across the last base ball which hadn't been appliqued, just fused onto the top. So, the whole quilt came out of the frames and the mistake made right. Pays to check carefully! Sorry, the picture is too pale to see much of the base balls.

Do you quilt for a grandchild?
cute - I like the baseballs on the railfence. yes I quilt for my grandchildren too and sometimes for other members of the family too (if they don't have grandma's already making quilts for them :) )

I am learning to quilt. My Mom is the great quilter in our family - quilts for all the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They are treasured by all of us.
ReplyDeleteYours are beautiful and so creative. I think having something someone made with their own hands is a priceless gift.
I know you made the quilts to be used, but I don't want it to become ragged. So it's not on his bed very often. It's not just the quilt itself; it's also the writing. I'd hate to lose it!
