Back to Some Needlework

No hay work for me today; Popa is cutting again, and there's grass drying, so we'll be back in the fields Friday and Saturday, taking advantage of the hot, dry weather. However, I have been very busy, washing up dirty jeans and shirts, and trying to cook something to eat rather than sandwiches again; I have to eat vegetables to keep going.

This afternoon I picked up the needle and embroidery floss and finished two blocks for the baby quilt I posted about earlier.

Who would think Jack could jump that high! and not catch his pants on fire?

And who knew Miss Muffet had copper-colored hair and wore red shoes?

This is a sampling of the 1930s reproduction prints I'll use for the patchwork blocks.

Just a stitch now and then will finish it someday.

  4. Oh I love them Charlotte! I already can't wait to see the quilt. My Mom is a wonderful quilter. I managed to make a sampler quilt and haven't tackled another one since. I enjoyed the hand-sewing but I think I'd like to get a new sewing machine (mine is not working) try to do some machine quilting.
My Mom has a gorgeous white-on-white quilt on her quilting frame right now. No machine quilting for her!

  5. Folky Dots, I found these online --free!! I'll try to find them and send you the link. I printed them off then reduced them to fit my block size, and used carbon paper to trace them onto my fabric.

  6. I love those quilt blocks! One day I'll post a picture of an old redwork quilt that was made in the 20's. It has the initials of the lady who made it, and the date.

Glad you have a day to do inside things!
